Corinne Aivazian
Founder of Casa Julfa & Terra Ancestral. Aivazian is an artist , writer and researcher who works with clay to investigate historical narratives.
Her work is heavily informed by her Armenian heritage and the pre-christian cultural and spiritual practices of her ancestors practised in their indigenous lands of the fertile crescent and SWANA region.
Her work has been commissioned by organisations including The British Ceramics Biennial (UK), Palazzo Grassi (Italy) and Inhotim (Brazil) and held in collections including The Tate Archive (UK).
She received her BA in Linguistics (Meaning and Cognition) from University College London (2005) and her MA in Fine Art (Sculpture) from University of the Arts London in 2008. She continues to participate in symposiums and conferences internationally, and is a former lecturer in Art and Design at St Martins College London, and The City literature Institute (UK) and more recently at TUMO, Armenia.
In recent years her practice has focussed on reclaiming lost ceramic and magical practices/techniques and paving a way for others to do the same as founder/director of Terra Ancestral and as a contributor to Մեր Տաճար (Mer Tachar)
